IMS Engineering on African Expansion Trail
Leading materials and minerals processing technology provider IMS Engineering (IMS) has taken an important step on the regional expansion trail with the sale of a MinPro FB1014 feeder-breaker to a coal mine in Mozambique.
IMS is a subsidiary of HAZEMAG & EPR and, inter alia, markets and supports its products in the southern African market. “We launched the HAZEMAG MinPro range two and a half years ago because of its benefits to the underground and opencast coal mining industry, both locally and in the wider region. This sale is yet another confirmation of the outstanding advantages of these machines,” says Richard Ferreira of IMS equipment sales.
The MinPro FB1014, which will be delivered to site in Mozambique in mid-July 2012 and installed in August, will be used as the primary crushing station at the mine.
Ferreira explains the three main reasons that the mine chose to go with the MinPro FB 1014. The first is the saving in infrastructure cost. “No civil structures are required,” says Ferreira. “The trucks tip directly onto the crusher’s chain feeder. There is no need for expensive feed hoppers or complex concrete or steel structures as the tipping action creates a natural bunker.”
The second benefit of the crusher is its flexibility and capability. The MinPro FB1014 comes with an integrated chain feeder that pulls the material to be crushed into the crushing drum. This gives the unit a horizontal material flow which allows the breaker to accept large feed sizes and places no real limit on the length of the feed size. It also has PLC control which enables overload protection and remote-controlled operation. The machine is weighted to process 600 tph and crushes the material down to 95% -150mm.
The third important advantage of the MinPro FB1014 – as with the entire MinPro range – is its mobility and ease-of use. Ferreira explains: “The relatively light, compact units are designed for fixed, semi-mobile or mobile applications. The machine in Mozambique will be used as a semi-mobile unit. If the mine needs to move to another pit, they can literally slide the MinPro FB1014 out and move it with little fuss.”
The machine was manufactured in HAZEMAG’s state of the art manufacturing facilities in Dülmen, Germany and custom-spec’d for the mine by IMS. The completed and test-run machine will be containerised and shipped on time to Mozambique and assembled, installed and commissioned by IMS technicians.
MinPro feeder-breakers can be employed in a wide range of applications including but not limited to ROM coal , lignite, gypsum, potash, rocksalt, bentonite, petroleum coke, clay and many other soft to medium-hard ores. The MinPro range covers capacities of up to 3500tph, while MinPro crushing technology is able to crush from ROM down to a -50mm in a two-stage crushing system as opposed to the traditional three-stage system.
IMS’s product range consists of HAZEMAG primary, secondary and tertiary horizontal shaft impactors, double-rotor primary hammer crushers, hammer mills, rapid dryers and apron, wobbler and reciprocating feeders, MinPro feeder-breakers and chain conveyors, Kawasaki gyratory, jaw and cone crushing and milling technologies and Steinert magnetic and sensor-based sorting and separation systems. Added to this range is the market leading high-pressure roller press technologies of Köppern. These include HPGR for high-pressure comminution, compaction presses and hot and cold briquetting technology.
IMS’s policy is to provide quality working solutions to meet customer’s requirements. The company’s major strength is its technical know-how. “Since we specialise in the supply of equipment, plant and services for the mining and minerals processing, quarrying and recycling industries, we are able to achieve a balance between proven international technologies and customised local content in accordance with international quality standards,” Ferreira says.
