PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The operating principle is based on a consistent generation of pressure between two counter – rotating rolls, so that crushing takes place continuously. The gap between the two rolls is adjustable because of two reasons:
- The product size is determined by the size of the gap between the rolls and
- to compensate for wear.
During operation, the rotational energy of the crushing rolls and the drive components reduce the peak loads ideally and uniform power consumption is achieved.
The rolls have narrow faces and are large in diameter so that they can nip the large lumps. The roll surfaces are of different design, depending on material characteristics and size.
The materials to be crushed are fed from the top. As the rolls rotate, the rocks are nipped between them and get crushed mainly by compression and shear. The crushed material is discharged from the bottom. Some stroke applies as well due to the rotational energy. Fines are minimized because already small enough materials pass freely through the crusher with no further size reduction. The coefficient of friction between the roll surface and the material to be crushed, incorporated with a relation between the size of the feed and the size of the product fixes the diameter of the rolls and determines whether a particle will be drawn into the rolls and gets crushed or not.
Roll Mills are protected against damage due to uncrushable like tramp iron by a floating roll which can evade under such conditions.
Similar to the hydraulic retraction system of the HAZEMAG impact crushers, the HAZEMAG Roll Mills using the HAZtronic® system for retraction and gap adjustment. In order to ensure consistent drive belt tension during retraction movement and during adjusting of the gap, HAZEMAG uses the below described system. Unlike some competitor roll mills, which lose their belts upon retraction, HAZEMAG Roll Mills continue with operation.
Coupling rod
The drive of the floating roll and the lever arm of the floating roll are connected by a coupling rod. By this, a parallel movement of this components is achieved. The tension of the V-belts is kept consistent, independent of the components position.
When to handle wet and sticky materials, it is indispensable to have scrapers in order to keep the roll clean. However, upon retraction of the floating roll or upon adjustment, the scrapers must follow the movement as well. In HAZEMAG roll mills, this is ensured by a torsion shaft. The torsion shaft connects both lever arms which creates a pivot frame.
- The distance between scrapers and segments does not change during the retraction time. They also don´t need to be re-adjusted upon gap changing.
- The individual scraper blades are adjustable to compensate for wear.
- The angle of the scraper system is adjustable by a spindle, which is easily accessible through the inspection door in the housing.
A system that easily permits and transports the roll mill out from under the feed hopper; thus, permitting full access to the roll mill and its internal parts.
