HAZEMAG PRIMARY CRUSHER REVOLUTIONISES CLINKER BUSINESS
Leading materials and minerals processing technology provider IMS Engineering (IMS) has replaced a jaw crusher at long-time client, Vaal-based Clinker Supplies, with a HAZEMAG AP-PH 1415 primary impact crusher.
According to Clinker Supplies’ Karl Pfeffer, apart from the numerous advantages of the HAZEMAG primary crusher, one of the principal reasons he invested in the HAZEMAG AP-PH 1415 was because the jaw crusher could not handle the volume and size of rocks that it was being fed. This created a logjam and significantly reduced the production efficiency of the entire process. “The performance of the Hazemag 1415 is remarkable and has solved all the problems we had in the past,” says Pfeffer.
This is the third HAZEMAG crusher at this Vaal plant, the other two being a HAZEMAG AP-K 1013 secondary impact crusher and a HAZEMAG AP-KV 0806 tertiary impact crusher.
IMS’s Shannon McEwan says the advantages of the new machine are: a significantly larger feed-size capability, up to 1400 mm, which includes an inlet jogging system that remotely relieves unlikely bridging of big lumps that may occur in the inlet; a higher overall capacity than the jaw crusher it is replacing, without any significant increase in physical crusher dimensions; and a significantly higher crusher reduction ratio. “While these all add up to a major improvement in plant efficiency, perhaps the most important contributor to improved bottom line numbers is the much improved reduction ratio, producing a significant percentage of saleable product size directly after the primary stage,” says McEwan.
He adds that there are several other advantages to HAZEMAG primary impact crushers including their significant resilience to tramp metal and other ‘non-crushables’ because of their heavy-duty rotor, cast mono-block impact aprons, and housing construction coupled with their specialised hydraulically operated automatic apron relief and remote adjustment system.
“These machines are used extensively around the world in the processing of construction and demolition waste where material including reinforced concrete steel rebar, timber, screws, bolts and other related debris are routinely fed through the machine,” says McEwan. “In fact HAZEMAG are the world leaders in concrete recycling crushing technology.”
Other applications for the technology include the primary and secondary crushing of medium to low abrasive materials in ore mining and processing and rock aggregate production. “These machines could, for example, be used in a dolomite or limestone quarry producing a high percentage of high quality – in terms of size distribution, product shape and particle integrity – saleable aggregates immediately from the primary crusher, reducing the number crushing stages and the size of downstream crushing plant,” McEwan says.
Other important HAZEMAG AP-PH features include,
- Excellent accessibility to facilitate easy servicing and maintenance work.
- Easily replaceable interchangeable wear plates
- Special key transfer system preventing unauthorised opening of housing during operation
- Supported and maintained by highly trained and experienced IMS service personnel
Pfeiffer says that IMS’s support has been excellent. “They’re always there when I need them and their expertise is second to none,” he concluded.
IMS Engineering’s product range consists of HAZEMAG primary, secondary and tertiary horizontal shaft impactors, double-rotor primary hammer crushers, hammer mills, rapid dryers and apron, wobbler and reciprocating feeders, MinPro feeder-breakers and chain conveyors, Kawasaki gyratory, jaw and cone crushing and milling technologies and Steinert magnetic and sensor-based sorting and separation systems. Added to this range is the market leading high-pressure roller press technologies of Köppern. These include HPGR for high pressure comminution, compaction presses and hot and cold roller press briquetting technology.
